A humorous story first published in 1909, and featuring an ill-assorted group of upper-class people grappling with the hardships of the open road in the south of England. To a German major and his wife, England presents more than just a contrast of scenery. In 1910 it was still thought possible for respectable persons in England to spend some part of a summer caravaning through the quaint villages and countryside in horse drawn wagons, pulling the horse and wagon up to a stream at night for refreshing sleep.
